The band was formed by vocalist Paweł Holeksa and solo guitarist Tomek Ratajczak. The instrumentalists were looking for a way to continue their musical passion after the disbandment of their first band. Drummer Janusz Orlikowski joined the band in early 2019. It quickly became apparent that the musicians shared similar interests and musical aspirations. The idea arose to create a power trio, a band performing their own compositions based on a powerful, American sound reminiscent of bands such as ZZ Top, The Mudds, Joe Bonamassa, and others.

In the group's initial phase, the musicians primarily played covers of American blues-rock bands, but they quickly began developing their own compositions, which eventually dominated their repertoire. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic halted the band's concert plans. Due to the inability to meet, the project was put on hold for several months. However, the band members took advantage of the stay-at-home period to create new lyrics and music.

This resulted in the creation of the song "Loneliness," which was an attempt to portray the unique situation we were facing worldwide. In May 2020, the recording was broadcast on Eska Radio and in June 2020 on Asta TV. Following the momentum, in August 2020 the band recorded two new tracks: a cover of the American band ZZTop's "La Grange" in their own arrangement and their own composition "Zły Sen." The group recorded two video clips for these tracks, which appeared on YouTube in December 2020. Blues Bastard entered 2021 with full enthusiasm and ambitious plans.

In April 2021, the group participated in auditions for the American music platform Sessions Live.com, which helps musicians present their work online. As a result, they were invited to join the Sessions artists group, performing several times for fans in over 170 countries.

In the summer of 2021, the opportunity to perform live, a long-awaited opportunity for Blues Bastard, finally arrived. In mid-March 2022, the group entered producer and guitarist Marcin Żmuda's studio and began recording their first tracks. The plan was to record a single, followed by a mini-album containing four original compositions. Guitarist Tomek's composition "Funky Blues" was chosen as the album's promotional track. Damian Michalski, vocalist of the band TSA Michalski/Niekrasz/Kapłon and a participant in the 5th season of the popular music program THE VOICE OF POLAND, was invited to collaborate on the recording.

In April, the group began their spring tour, playing throughout Poland at motorcycle rallies, city festivals, and charity events. In October, the finished material was released on music streaming sites in the form of the EP "Power of the Blues."

Currently, Blues Bastard is comprised of three extraordinary men with a passion for music: Paweł Holeksa – vocalist, bassist, composer, lyricist, and arranger; Tomasz Ratajczak – solo guitarist, composer, and lyricist; and Janusz Orlikowski – drummer, American rock enthusiast, and co-founder of the blues-rock band Johnny Coyote.

In February 2023, the band members returned to the studio to record more material. In January 2024, the group signed a publishing agreement with Case Studio, resulting in the release of the album "Woman," containing 11 original compositions, full of incredible energy, and presented in a beautiful graphic design.
