THE FIRST POZNAŃ NON-SYMPHONY UKULELE ORCHESTRA - PPNOU
After decades on stages around the world, hundreds of hits, several scandals, and decades of tumultuous friendships—it's finally here! Long plagued by persistent "why?", "when?", and "how much longer?"—they've finally recorded! Abandoning false modesty and ready to show the world their true colors, they've finally brought the long-awaited album to your hands. Their first, Poznań-based, non-symphonic, yet already so well-known album, PPNOU. For years, they were reluctant to release it—after all, their strength was, and is, live music, the stage, and audience interaction. Convinced that this couldn't be captured in the studio, on a record, after many arguments and a few fights, they finally took it on. Aware that their slogan, "A ukulele in every home!", would resonate more powerfully, and for some, the album might be the beginning of their greatest adventure. At the risk of someone not liking it and throwing it away, maybe the found one will inspire someone else? Those of you who saw PPNOU in concert might not recognize them on the album (apparently they recorded it sitting down...). Those of you who (horror!) haven't met them yet – don't be fooled by the calm and delicacy of this most magnificent of instruments – believe me, the stage is PPNOU's true element – a ukulele in every home!
PPNOU is a band like no other, formed by passionate musicians captivated by the distinctive sound and diminutive size of the Hawaiian guitar, commonly known as the ukulele, or simply uku. These four guys from Poznań (not the five from Liverpool) with their tiny instruments and their big noise will shatter everything you knew about music. At their concerts, you should always expect the unexpected! They break conventions and break women's hearts.
The PPNOU repertoire is an extraordinary "jukebox" with something for everyone. The musicians arrange true gems of world and Polish popular music. The repertoire expands with each concert, so that those who have heard the Orchestra before can still experience moments of surprise.
