Pop Marley

In the fall of 2015, the debut album by Pop Marlej was released. The Opole-based band's album was preceded by an EP released a few months earlier, featuring two bonus tracks that are a gift to listeners, and not found on the band's full album. Although the music on the album features reggae elements, it boldly explores other musical genres. The result is a surprising musical diversity. The band's crossover appeal is often noted by listeners. Among the 14 compositions on the album, in addition to the aforementioned reggae element, we find influences from jazz, funk, rap, and harder sounds. Lyrically, we find irreverent songs, absurd stories, philosophical reflections, declarations of love, and importantly, not a single so-called "filler hole."

The recording session was supported by guests. We'll hear two young, talented vocalists: Marta Sobolewska on "Myśl" and Vimala Vaidyan on "Zatańcz ze mnie." Kuba Wasik, with his experienced vocals, backs the band on the song "Piekło." The aforementioned track "Myśl" also features Paweł Ziorko, a hip-hop artist from Opole, and "Zatańcz ze mnie" features the distinguished trumpeter Hans Peter Selentin, who has collaborated with renowned jazz artists such as Chick Corea and James Carter.
