He collaborates, creates, and performs with leading figures from the Polish and international music scene. From 1996 to 2000, Grzegorz Ornette Stępień could be heard in bands including Andrzej Chochoł, Krystyna Prońko, Adam Wendt, Aleksander Korecki, Henryk Gembalski, and Michał Zduniak, creating various forms of jazz, fusion, and free music. In 2000 and 2001, Grzegorz provided his talent to pop and funk stars, supporting The Brand New Heavies, Texas. He participated in the "Vilnius Days" festival in Vilnius. He performed in Hungary for the music channel MTV in Budapest. During the tour, he collaborated with an American-Italian band and recorded the EP "Sub Masters" in a Berlin studio. In 2002, he became the bassist for the band Oddział Zamknięty, with whom he played over 2,000 concerts, supporting such stars as Guns and Roses, Scorpions, and Alphaville. In the meantime, he also works as a session musician, recording and producing releases with, among others,
Liam Mcmhurri, Atma Anur, Andrzej Urny, Ryszard Sygitowicz, Artur Malik, Krzysztof Misiak, Jacek Krzaklewski, Mieczysław Jurecki, etc. ORNETTE's album "Twarzą w Twarza" (Face to Face), released in November 2015, is a culmination of his 20-year career. The album is generating considerable interest among both his ever-growing fan base and the media. The concerts are performed with maximum energy and a high standard. The songs "Mościestań na noc" (You Can Stay Night), "Twarzą w Twarza" (Face to Face), and "Baw się" (Play) appeared on the Antyradio charts, reaching the top ten, while the ballad "Niepominamnę" (I Will Not Forget) topped the Radio Olsztyn charts several times. Marek Wiernik, the renowned voice of Polish Radio, often uses the song "Spowiedz" (Confession) in his broadcasts. The tour promoting the album, from Gdańsk to Vienna, included over 60 club and open-air concerts. Ornette opened concerts for the bands: Perfect, Dżem, and Piersi. He performed at the following festivals: "Wielki Ogień", "Rockowe Świętokrzyskie", "Rockowe Bieszczady" (twice). Scyzoryki 2019, Pol'and'Rock 2019. He played concerts in Vienna, London, Southampton, Bristol, Hintertux. (Polish Powder Days). The concert of the band "ORNETTE and Friends" during the 10th Mira Kubasińska Festival "Wielki Ogień" in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski was an opportunity to record a music video, the premiere of which on Teleexpress sealed ORNETTE's success. August 2021 is the premiere of ORNETTE's second album, "Jesteś Wszystko" - rock and roll of flesh and blood in its living form. The superbly cut and produced material is a rock phenomenon on the Polish music market, which is given wings by clever lyrics. ORNETTE's material "Jesteś wszystko" was also released on vinyl by BNB RECORDS, with which GRZEGORZ STĘPIEŃ and the ORNETTE band are embarking on a further musical journey.
