Four and a Half

Snakedoctors' latest double album, " Four and a Half ," features each disc operating as an album side, similar to vinyl or cassette tapes. The red disc, which serves as side A, is a continuation of the previous albums, which heavily blended grunge with new wave, dark wave, and post-punk. Once again, there are a few more electronic instruments.

The red disc features 11 new, original compositions and two alternative versions of songs from the second disc. These include two completely different remixes from the original versions, prepared by a talented Canadian artist, and a remix of the B-side track prepared by the band's guitarist Wojciech Wypych.

The black album, or side B, features songs and production that lean much closer to grunge. From "Too Many" and "Fade Away" to "Inside," "Mean and Ugly," and "Wuss," these tracks were produced at Osso Studio in Gdańsk by Dawid Gorgolewski. The fourth album was released by Case Studio in Aleksandrów Łódzki, and the album was released under the special patronage of Polish Radio Olsztyn and Radio Tczew.

In addition to the people who produced previous albums—Chris Bolster of Abbey Road Studios and Andy "Happy" of Metropolis Studios in London—the band also managed to co-produce Joe Gibb and Kevin Paul, who have previously worked with Depeche Mode, the Cure, Yazoo, the Kinks, the Mission, and David Bowie, among others. This is evident on the album, particularly in the tracks "Crime Story," "Friday Night," "Wonder Girl," and "Love."

Matt Gerhard, who works with the band Spoon, also contributed to one of the tracks, and Corey Alley, one of the Snakedoctors' guitarist and vocalist's friends from his time in the States, contributed to another. Songs from the previous album performed well on the charts, both domestically (on Radio Olsztyn and Radio Ostrowiec) and internationally (in the UK and Central America). Although Snakedoctors are an indie band, the first single, "Crime Story," from the upcoming album, "Four and a Half," is also doing well and is being played on numerous radio stations in Poland and abroad.
