Upiór Forest That Grieves

Phantom – a demonic creature from Slavic folklore, the prototype of the vampire, a man cursed before death.
Upiór is a symphonic death metal band formed in France/Poland in 2019 as a collaboration between two longtime friends, Tomasz "Josh" Jaskuła (guitars, bass) and Sebastian "Drache" Stachowiak (keyboards). They played together in other Polish bands in the 1990s.
Upiór has so far self-released the single "Reality 2020" (2020), followed by the EP "Where Dead Angels Lie" (2021), with a Dissection cover of the same title.
The first full-length album "The Forest That Grieves" was released on March 21, 2022, mixed and mastered at Nostromo Studio – Music Production.
The album comprises seven tracks interspersed with keyboard intros. The music combines melodic, fast, and powerful riffs with numerous drum blasts and slower, almost progressive parts supported by powerful orchestrations.
Influences beyond metal are evident. From the very first seconds, "Haunting Memories" hits the listener with a very fast riff, followed by "Dagon Sleeps," with its fast drumming and melodic riffs, reminiscent of the best black metal.
But there are many influences from other genres, where, for example, the fast, powerful riffs of "Project Maruta" give way after a while to make room for a jazz section and a solo.
Upiór doesn't try to follow any particular pattern. They create music they enjoy.
